Bloomfields Horseboxes, from humble beginnings to international success…
Bloomfields launched its first horsebox range in 2005, designed and built by founder Dean Moody. From humble beginnings, Dean built his first horseboxes in the back yard of his parents house (called Bloomfield), and has since gone from strength to strength. In 2007 Dean took over his first unit on Boughton industrial estate and employed his first team member to help him keep up with the growing demand.
Bloomfields is now a worldwide recognised brand with an outstanding reputation for exceptional build quality but still offering sensible prices, with an unrivalled after-care. Always striving to stay ahead with our innovation, we have a team of engineers and designers who create new innovative features and test new materials to be sure that all of our horseboxes are as strong and safe as can be.
44,000 square foot factory
In early 2017 we moved from our rented factory in Boughton to our purchased 44,000 square foot factory on a 2 acre site in Worksop. This move was exactly what was needed to meet the massive demand for Bloomfields Horseboxes across the UK and the world.
The new premises allows production to reach up to 10 horseboxes per week and Bloomfields now employs up to 70 of the industry’s most skilled and trained workforce. The new factory was officially opened in June 2017 by the Bassetlaw Council Chairwoman at our very successful and busy open day.
160 point quality inspection
All our horseboxes undergo a rigorous 160 point quality inspection throughout the build and spray process from one of our quality assurance team, ensuring that no quality is lost throughout the production process.
We pride ourselves on our build quality, customer service, and after-sales support. We actively encourage factory visits, believing that knowing the quality of a horsebox without seeing it in its rawest stage is almost impossible. All aspects of the bespoke builds are executed in house and our 4 bays are open to inspection from any potential purchaser.
Bloomfields boasts state of the art machines
Our state of the art machines mean that every horse box is built to precision tolerances, massively reducing the room for human error and inconsistencies. This in turn increases the longevity of the life of our vehicles. As part of our continued growth and dedication to quality, in early 2023 we took delivery of the first 3 large format machines for our industry leading machining centre. We will continue to invest in our precision engineering and quality of our horseboxes.
Our current machining centre consists of…
Large bed CNC router
This large bed CNC (Computer Numerical Control) router cuts complex shapes from soft materials like wood, plastic, Expanded foam, sift metals, and in some cases steel.
CNC double-headed mitre saw
A large CNC double headed mitre saw cuts and mitres aluminium profiles (such as our captive sill sections and sliding partition extrusions) to precise tolerances.
CNC vertical spindle
The 4 Axis CNC floor type vertical spindle machine can perform different operations like milling, boring, and drilling, with precision accuracy and minimal time.
It consists of an automatic tool-changing mechanism that enables it to use multiple cutting tools during the machining process.

OEM fixing points for maximum strength
Using only the brand new platform cab means we only use the OEM fixing points for our bulkhead to fix to – giving maximum strength. Our own design captive sill sections have revolutionised our horseboxes. Encapsulating the chassis, floor, walls and roof, the new design has added an unprecedented amount of strength to the vehicle. Completely monocoque and better by design!
25mm high density woven fibreglass panels
We use a 25mm high density woven fibreglass panel which is thermically bonded onto the inner honeycomb core. After extensive testing we have found this panel to be the strongest lightweight material suitable for horseboxes. The thermical weld means that de-lamination is almost impossible and the woven strands of fibre as opposed to laid fibre give an impact strength far superior to other modern materials.
Safety, always at the forefront of everything we do…
At Bloomfields, safety is always at the forefront. That is why we have invested heavily into strength testing our bulkhead. Consisting of over 20 meters of 50mm aluminium box section and over 5m of aluminium weld, our full passenger safety cell is believed to be one of the strongest on the market.
Over four times ISO 27956:2009 standards. Bloomfields don’t just claim to have the strongest of bulkheads… We prove it!
STATUS, who are part of the Manchester Metropolitan University, tested our bulkhead to over four times ISO27956:2009 standards. Testing was forced to stop at this point as the machinery used was to its maximum testing capabilities
We use a 6082T6 structural grade Aluminium in our bulkhead and extrusions for superior longevity and quality of materials.
When you love what you do, it isn’t a job!
Our family is passionate about everything Equestrian! We strongly believe that to build a good horsebox, you must be an engineer, but to build a great horsebox, you must be an engineer and an equestrian!
With Bloomfields taking up much of our time, we don’t get much spare time to ride, so we enjoy breeding 1-2 foals a year. Our foals all have the prefix ‘Bloomfields Horseboxes’ and we are looking forward to seeing them out at equestrian driven nationwide shows soon.
We love nothing more as a family than to enjoy our horses in our free time…
Much like with Bloomfields, we have built our yard from the ground up and now enjoy a 26 stable yard shared with our own horses and those of our sponsored rider Adam Taylor at Jump Elite. Our Son and Daughter, Sam & Eve are equally as passionate about their ponies Inca and Flo as we are our about our horses, and we look forward to helping them progress with their ambitions.
